THE LONG WAY DOWN

I went up for the view. Eventually, I remembered I had to get back down. Stripped of color, the landscape seemed to reveal something beyond its beauty... mountain, water, weather, and the small traces of human life gathered between them. Sometimes removing something from an image does not diminish it. It reveals what was there all along.

Looking down across Reine and the surrounding fjords from Reinebringen peak in the Lofoten Islands, Norway.

Particularly powerful in living rooms, studies, libraries, offices, and restrained interiors where form and atmosphere can take precedence over color. Its monochromatic palette pairs naturally with black oak, white framing, stone, concrete, dark woods, and quieter architectural spaces, while the sweeping perspective gives the piece both immense scale and an unusual sense of intimacy.

10% of this piece supports the Skandere Foundation and its Earthworks initiatives, helping preserve the mountains, waters, and living landscapes whose essential forms endure far beyond our brief passage through them.
