Framing & Presentation

Every Aperiolis piece is produced using museum-grade materials and professional finishing methods. Each presentation style is designed to preserve the integrity of the image while allowing it to inhabit a space differently through scale, texture, and form.

Print Surface

Fuji Crystal Archive DPII Photographic Paper

Used for:

  • Unframed Prints
  • Archival Border Framed Prints

This professional photographic paper was selected for its exceptional detail reproduction, tonal depth, and color fidelity. It produces a luminous image with remarkable clarity while maintaining a natural photographic feel.

Characteristics include:

  • Exceptional sharpness and fine detail
  • Rich blacks and strong tonal separation
  • High color accuracy and depth
  • Smooth semi-lustre surface with subtle reflectivity
  • Outstanding performance for both color and black-and-white imagery

The result is an image with dimensionality, presence, and cinematic depth without excessive gloss or artificial sheen.

Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta Presentation

Used exclusively for:

  • Floater Frames

For floater presentations, each image is printed on Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta paper and professionally mounted to Alu-Dibond backing.

Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta is a museum-grade paper celebrated for its extraordinary tonal richness, depth, and tactile elegance. Its subtle baryta sheen creates a luxurious photographic surface capable of rendering both deep blacks and luminous highlights with remarkable dimensionality.

Characteristics include:

  • Exceptional tonal depth and dynamic range
  • Rich blacks and refined contrast
  • Smooth fine art surface with subtle baryta sheen
  • Museum-grade archival quality
  • Remarkable depth and texture without excessive gloss

Unlike traditional framed prints protected behind glass, the print surface remains exposed, allowing the materiality and texture of the artwork itself to become part of the viewing experience.

Mounted to rigid Alu-Dibond backing and suspended within the frame, the result feels less like a framed photograph and more like a contemporary fine art object.

Framing Options

Aperiolis offers two distinct presentation styles, each designed to create a different relationship between the image and the space around it.

Archival Border Frame

A spacious and contemplative gallery presentation.

  • Printed on Fuji Crystal Archive DPII photographic paper
  • Includes a carefully proportioned archival white border
  • Protected behind glossy float glass
  • Framed in your choice of:
    • Black Oak
    • White
    • Natural Oak

Frame profile:

  • Small / Medium / Large / XL → Hamburg Frame (.8")
  • Exhibition → Hamburg Frame (1.2")

Border sizing:

  • Small → .8"
  • Medium → 1.2"
  • Large → 1.2"
  • XL → 2"
  • Exhibition → 2"

This style introduces breathing room around the image, creating a quieter and more architectural presentation.

Best for:
Refined interiors, softer presentation, and spaces that benefit from balance and visual restraint.

Floater Frame

A dimensional fine art presentation with stronger physical presence.

  • Printed on Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta paper
  • Mounted to Alu-Dibond backing
  • No glass covering the print surface
  • Image extends fully to the edge
  • The piece is suspended within the frame, creating a floating effect
  • Available in:
    • Black Oak
    • White
    • Natural Oak

Basel Floater Frame thickness:

  • Small / Medium → .24"
  • Large / XL → .6"
  • Exhibition → 1.2"

This presentation creates depth, shadow, and material presence while allowing the print surface itself to remain visible and tactile.

Best for:
Statement pieces, large-scale imagery, modern interiors, and collectors seeking a more sculptural presentation.

Unframed Prints

  • Printed on Fuji Crystal Archive DPII photographic paper
  • Includes a clean archival white border
  • Designed for collectors who prefer custom framing or a more minimal presentation

Border sizing:

  • Small → .8"
  • Medium → 1.2"
  • Large → 1.2"
  • XL → 2"
  • Exhibition → 2"

Sizing

Each work is available in multiple sizes, allowing the image to function differently depending on its environment and intended presence.

  • Small — intimate and quiet, ideal for shelves, desks, and close viewing
  • Medium — balanced and versatile, suited for most spaces
  • Large — immersive and architectural, designed to become a focal point
  • XL — commanding and cinematic, capable of anchoring a room
  • Exhibition — expansive statement pieces intended for immersive viewing and large-scale environments

Choosing the Right Presentation

There is no single correct option... only what feels aligned with your space, atmosphere, and relationship to the image.

  • If you want the work to feel softer and more contemplative, choose archival border framing
  • If you want sculptural presence and immersion, choose floater framing
  • If you prefer flexibility or custom presentation, choose unframed prints

Each piece ultimately exists as an interaction between image, scale, material, and environment.

Fuji Crystal Archive DPII

Used for:

  • Unframed Prints
  • Archival Border Frames

This professional photographic paper delivers:

  • Exceptional detail
  • Rich tonal depth
  • Strong color fidelity
  • Smooth semi-lustre finish

Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta

Used exclusively for:

  • Floater Frames

This fine art paper is known for:

  • Extraordinary tonal richness
  • Deep blacks and dimensional contrast
  • Museum-grade archival quality
  • A refined baryta sheen and tactile surface

Unframed prints offer flexibility and simplicity, making them ideal for collectors who prefer custom framing or a more minimal presentation.

Framed works arrive fully finished and ready to hang.

Archival Border Frames create a quieter, more contemplative gallery presentation, while Floater Frames offer a more immersive and sculptural fine art presence.

Each size changes the relationship between the image and the space around it.

  • Small — intimate and subtle, ideal for shelves and close viewing
  • Medium — balanced and versatile for most spaces
  • Large — immersive and architectural
  • XL — commanding and cinematic
  • Exhibition — expansive statement pieces designed to anchor large environments

If you want the work to complement a room, smaller sizes and archival border framing tend to work beautifully.

If you want the piece to define the atmosphere of a space, larger sizes and floater frames create a stronger visual presence.

At this time, prints are not digitally signed on the image itself, preserving a clean and uninterrupted viewing experience. Limited or signed editions may be introduced in the future.

Yes. 5–10% of every purchase supports the Skandere Foundation and its conservation partners, including the African Wildlife Foundation.

Each piece contributes directly to the preservation of the environments in which the work was created.
